When We Feel Good Inside Ourselves We Are Doing Something Good for the People We Love

I believe that each of us is the perfect expression of Wholeness. How we feel about ourselves;the choices we make or don’t make; and whether we are able to move forward or stay stuck in the past has a profound influence on us, those around us and our world.

When we feel good inside ourselves we are also doing something wonderful for the world and for those we love.....

Yet life can feel so  intense with  many challenges. Today our world is dealing with Ebola hemorrhagic fever, civil strife in the Ukraine, crisis in the Middle East. Heavy situations are happening in many places.

How we can take care of ourselves when it seems so difficult to take care of the world’s family?

I believe that all beings are expressing the Creative Intelligence of the One Universal Mind. Regardless of where we live or what culture we belong to what we think influences the greater state of Wholeness inside ourselves and all around us.

What if you could do something simple each day that would help you feel good and bring answers to your challenges  and the unresolved problems we see around us? Try this simple technique for 30 days:

Find a quiet place where you can be in solitude. It might be in your room or  outside in nature.  Some people even go into their closet and shut the door.

Just sit in silence for 10 minutes-breathe normally. Set aside your cares and relax. Let go of any worries or concerns and feel the silence within.

When you are calm and feeling at peace you are actually in connection with the One Universal Mind.

Now speak the following words aloud. Read them with feeling as if they are your own:

"I know that I am pure spirit, that I always have
been, and that I always will be.

There is inside me a place of confidence and quietness and security
where all things are known and understood.

This is the Universal Mind, God, of which I am a part
and which responds to me as I ask of it.

This universal mind knows the answer to all of my problems,
and even now the answers are speeding their way to me.

I needn't struggle for them; I needn't worry or strive for them.
When the time comes, the answers will be there.

I give my problems to the great mind of God; I let go of them, confident that the correct answers will return to me when they are needed.

Through the great law of attraction, everything in life that
I need for my work and fulfillment will come to me.

It is not necessary that I strain about this, only believe.
For in the strength of my belief, my faith will make it so.

I see the hand of divine intelligence all about me,
in the flower, the tree, the brook, the meadow.

I know that the intelligence that created all these things is in me and around me and that I can call upon it for my slightest need.

I know that my body is a manifestation of pure spirit and
that spirit is perfect; therefore my body is perfect also.

I enjoy life, for each day brings a constant demonstration
of the power and wonder of the universe and myself.
I am confident. I am serene. I am sure.

No matter what obstacle or undesirable circumstance crosses
my path, I refuse to accept it, for it is nothing but illusion.

There can be no obstacle or undesirable circumstance to the mind
of God, which is in me, and around me, and serves me now."

As you project these words into the silence-you will heal yourself; do something wonderful for those around you and help to heal your world.

When you are complete take a minute or two to come back to the present moment and continue with your day.

Inner Guide to Fat Loss

Keep your brown fat cool:
A natural type of body fat called brown fat can enhance weight loss and fat burning because brown fat uses extra sugars and other types of body fat for fuel. You can trigger a 15% increase in your fat burning response by keeping yourself chilly during your exercise.

Being overheated from bundling up or being so cold that you shiver makes your brown fat stop burning fuel and your fat burning metabolism actually slows down.

So... to enhance your brown fat energy burning metabolism begin your exercise routine with appropriate layers make sure you feel comfortably cool.1

Caught up in new diets, good foods, bad foods, slow carbs, bad carbs and no carbs?
Fitness, weight loss and reducing body fat are on everyone’s mind. Have you noticed that thoughts about your body or the foods you eat can weigh you down and make you feel heavier than you know yourself to be?

I believe that each of us is the perfect expression of Wholeness and that the foods we eat are a spiritual form of substance and supply . We have the innate intelligence within that can guide us to the best way of eating.

If it's a challenge to know what food plan is best for you-- a health coach can show you how to get started. The food plan that works great for your best friend might need to be tailored to make it a success for you.... Our bodies and physical systems are unique and we each have different needs.

Are you stuck in a rut with sugar? Do you feel anxious late at night and find yourself reaching for the graham crackers? Has daily exercise become impossible because your schedule along with your clothes feel too tight?

Regardless of what foods have packed on extra pounds we can have loving, harmonious communication with ourselves that praises and supports healing results on a deep inner level.

Meditation

Here’s a meditation to read aloud morning and evening I think it can shift your heavy thoughts and help you enjoy new vitality, weight loss and healing:
My food agrees with me and I agree with it. I am guided to make the best possible choices in the foods I eat. Everything I eat is perfectly assimilated and digested and all my organ systems and every part of me is in harmony with all that I take into my body. I am in harmony with all my foods, my thoughts and the substance that supplies my body creates vibrancy, harmony, healing and fitness.

I enjoy your questions and comments let me know how this works for you and I'd love to hear about your healing adventures.

Healing From a Place of Wholeness

"Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year"
Ralph Waldo Emerson
I believe that inside you, inside me and inside everyone a Wholeness exists and that all healing comes from that Wholeness. I believe our thoughts, centered on this Wholeness, can heal us.
Our thoughts help us heal
Each time we  perceive ourselves as well, grounded, happy, calm, peaceful and at ease we strengthen our ability to make that our new way of being.
Have you ever noticed that you can hide your positive feelings about yourself with thoughts that are depressing or anxiety producing by worrying, or by comparing yourself to others?
Feeling desperate about losing weight or not having a body we like, living with chronic pain and fatigue, inflammation, or more serious illnesses can make our opportunities seem limited.  Needing a new job, a place to live or struggling in a floundering relationship can be equally daunting. Of course not every condition can be permanently reversed but what can change is our perceptions about ourselves and for that to happen we can turn to the Wholeness within us.
Psychologists use Cognitive Behavior Therapy to help people change their thinking in the midst of such challenges.  We can also begin a change inside ourselves with meditation, practicing compassion, gratitude and cultivating the awareness of what makes us happy and what helps us to feel Whole.
"Live quietly in the moment and see the beauty of all before you."
Paramahansa Yogananda
A new reality of Wholeness for deepest healing
As we turn our attention to consciously experiencing Wholeness within we may begin to feel new feelings of oneness, happiness and have  life affirming thoughts. Repeatedly turning our attention to the Wholeness within we will strengthen our ability to remember these feelings.  Over time it becomes easier to call them up.  Focusing on these new feelings several times a week creates a new reality of Wholeness within us and about us.
When we can remember our Wholeness and allow ourselves to embrace it-truly our deepest healing takes place. Then, our remembered Wholeness can become the foudnation upon which our special diets, medications, natural remedies, what we have heard from our families, friends and even our self talk rests.
Stefan’s Story
Recently I was asked to meet a man I'll call Stefan to see if I could help him experience more joy. Stefan is an 80 something gentleman who has many challenges. He can no longer walk and uses a wheel chair. He has dementia and can only speak in short phrases of 2-3 words.
Using simple questions I discovered that he was a retired interior decorator who loves nature and classical music. He liked my idea of driving to see some of the beautiful homes in our area.
Summer is just beginning its end here and the weather for our drive was gorgeous. We took our time driving by homes with dramatic landscaping, covered verandas, entry ways twined with morning glories and roses. Stefan let me know that he liked what we were seeing with just a few words "Beautiful, oh so beautiful"
As the ducks were settling onto the lake I pulled my car close to the water and we sat there sharing the grace of the  morning. "Beautiful, oh so beautiful".
I dialed up Il Divo, Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli. As the music filled the car Stefan began to sway his upper body with the music and smiled.
A friend was out walking and stopped to greet us. After she continued on her way Stefan turned his eyes fully on me and said “So warm.”
We looked at every tree slowly, winding through the woods. Together we became one with each leaf on every tree and one with all the spaces in between each leaf and tree. Stefan’s eyes were luminous and he kept smiling as we drank in the beauty. Each tree was Stefan’s own universe of joy and light. "Beautiful, oh so beautiful."
By the time I returned Stefan to his memory care facility his entire being was glowing. Even though we had few words to share we were able to experience an entire universe of Wholeness which enriched and healed us both.
Try this on yourself
Find a way to recognize your own Wholeness or Oneness and when you are really feeling it say "yes  this is truly me." Breathe it in and if you can stand up straight with good posture and repeat that a few times and then breathe some more.
Anyone can do this-though we may each have a different way of enhancing our experience of Wholeness. It might be with music that sounds beautiful to you. Some people like Stefan can be truly renewed while they are out in nature. Others may only feel at ease and free inside their homes. Whether it is your cat or your car or something different-experiment with what it is that takes you out of your every day self and allows you to remember your own Wholeness and the sense that truly we are all One.
May your heart open.
May joy emerge.
May love flow through you.
May you heal and help others

Guest Post by Douglas Walker: Painting is a technology of consciousness

“Mahalakshmi,” oil, 60”x60” —by Douglas Walker

When I first took up painting a few years ago, it didn't take long to realize that it was much more than creating a beautiful picture. Like other forms of creativity, painting is a technology of consciousness, both for the artist and for the viewer.

As any artist or musician knows, the creative process works best when the ego steps aside and allows the higher Self to take control. And any time you do this, it leads to the growth of higher consciousness.

Painting the devata value

The great spiritual teacher Maharishi Mahesh Yogi once said that real art is painting the Devas, and everything else is just painting one's stress. The Devas are commonly understood to be the Vedic Gods. But Maharishi used a broader meaning. He described the
"Willow and Tangelos,” oil, 15"x30” —by Wendy Higgins
Devas as those values of intelligence that govern the various laws of nature. So I don’t think he just meant painting the Vedic Gods, but painting the devata value, or divine inner intelligence, of any person, object, or scene.

A fellow artist in Santa Fe, Wendy Higgins, creates the most beautiful still life paintings. What makes them so wonderful is that Wendy is able to capture the Divine Intelligence in the object. The flowers, the fruit, the vases — each object radiates Light. When you look at her paintings you don't just see the flower or the pot, you see Beauty.

Wendy says, “For me there's a universal quality to the beauty I see. And if I can open someone's eyes to that beauty, consciously or not, that opens their heart. I am, in a sense, worshipping the beauty I see and falling deeper and deeper in love with that which I feel is an expression of our source."

Moving Wholeness into the point

The essential nature of each of us is infinite, divine Wholeness. When the ego steps aside, that inner divine Light is able to make an appearance. When the painter allows his or her awareness to favor the Wholeness, then every brush stroke brings a taste of Wholeness to the canvas. The inner Silence, the divine Presence, which is usually hidden from view, is displayed for everyone to see.

“Face East & Pray to Your Ancestors 1,” pastel, 15”x22” —by Anastasia Hurlin
Anastasia Hurlin is able to do this in her incredible figurative paintings. She says, “In my own work I strive for wholeness. I mirror the empowered woman through my art, bringing out her inherent beauty and integrity. I acknowledge our common power, our passion, our shakti. I find my true center in the presence of divinely engaged women. Immersed in this 'texture', I paint.”

When someone stands in front of such a painting, the divine Wholeness is “stirred” in that person. The painting helps that person to recognize, even for a moment, his or her own divine nature.

Bringing Silence (Presence) to the surface

For the artist that favors Wholeness, the act of painting becomes a technology of transformation. It's like meditation, where repeated exposure to inner Silence cultures the nervous system to be able to support that Silence even during activity. Painting so that Wholeness moves through the brush onto the canvas alters the nervous system and makes one capable of sustaining a heightened awareness throughout the day. It transforms the nervous system to support more Wholeness.

“Bairava,” oil, 16”x12” —by Douglas Walker

Seeing Beauty

Painting in this way changes the way you see the world. Painting from the level of Wholeness allows you to recognize Wholeness in others and in your environment. Even people or objects that previously seemed distasteful are now seen as windows to the Divine.

It is said that what you put your attention on grows stronger. While painting your stress can be cathartic, I shudder to think of the effect it has on the viewer, and on the painter’s life. When you put your attention on the inner divine Wholeness as you paint, then divine Light becomes stronger in every aspect of your life.

The Divine is present everywhere. Bring that Presence into your paintings, and your appreciation of everyone and everything will flourish.

Author Douglas Walker was born and grew up in Vancouver, Canada. He presently lives with his wife Nancy in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His paintings include unique representations of Vedic gods along with depictions of the relationship between the human physiology and the Divine.

Douglas was gifted with the ability to paint late in life following a meditation experience of Divine Mother dancing in his heart lotus. Many who view his work report inner spiritual transformation and energetic healing.

According to Douglas, “Divine Mother is the artist. I just try to be alert to what She is telling me, and not get in the way. The less the ego is involved, the better I can express Her Light and Silence in my paintings. And of course, it helps to keep improving my painting skills.”
